Katerina Schneider, Founder & CEO at Ritual was meeting with an investor slash acquaintance to discuss funding for Ritual, it was the early days. Because she was 4 months pregnant, she was told that it would be appropriate to let him know about the pregnancy. Plus, she had known previously and expected a pleasant conversation. What he said next was horrifying. “You can either start a family or build a business, you can’t do both”. How would you respond?
For Katerina, it provided the fuel for building a hugely successful brand that was voted by LinkedIn in 2019 as one of the top 25 places to work. How you like me now, Mr. Investor?
In part 1 of this incredible episode, Katerina shares her journey including How she started Ritual at 4 months pregnant and Why it’s so important to be transparent about ingredients, How she created the first fully traceable multi-vitamin so you know what’s in it, Why 1/3 of women can’t fully utilize Folic Acid but why large companies keep using it because it’s cheap, Why she was fascinated by taking something from a routine to a habit, to a ritual, Why being pregnant made her more creative, Why happiness in employees dictates the success of your business, Why being in a startup equalizes everyone, and Why being a mom is a great breeding ground for being an entrepreneur.
Note: there is so much great advice, I can’t list it all. So join us while Ramon Vela
