“We’re the world’s first dedicated single-origin food company,” Belal El-Banna, CEO and Co-Founder of Single Origin Food Co.
The idea for the brand came from another co-founder, Colin Carter, when he developed adult epilepsy in his early 40s. He tried to balance up his medication, so he started drinking coffee. Then, in his attempt to find a better cup of coffee he came across single-origin coffee. He liked the single-origin concept so much; it led them to start the company.
Belal says that they don’t look at themselves as a “for-profit” instead of more as a fair profit. They want to be transparent and serve the best quality at a reasonable price.
He talks about:
* Gratefulness
* Overview of the brand
* Difficulty in finding farmers
* Early days of the company
* How they make cost work
* Where their products are sold
* Challenges in pandemic
* Why honey
